This Independence Day,Bengaluru’s children are being given an opportunity few of them are likely to forget – a chance to step inside the majestic Vidhana Soudha and experience the Grand Assembly Hall as part of Freedom Habba on August 15.
For many young visitors,it will be their first opportunity to enter one of Karnataka’s most iconic public institutions and experience the place where the State’s democratic institutions come alive.
Children Become the Pass to Vidhana Soudha:
Children participating in Freedom Habba will get a rare opportunity to explore Vidhana Soudha through specially guided tours and visit the Grand Assembly Hall,offering them a glimpse into the very institution where Karnataka’s democratic processes unfold.
In a unique family experience,children will effectively be the pass for their parents, with parents accompanying them also getting an opportunity to enter Vidhana Soudha and experience the Grand Assembly Hall.
For many families, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to step inside one of Bengaluru’s most iconic landmarks and experience democracy together.
But the visit is designed to be much more than a tour. Children will have an entire day of experiences created especially for them, including a Makkala Mela, interactive learning games, storytelling,arts and crafts, creative workshops and family activities.
A special Children’s Freedom Village will bring freedom fighters to life through performers, with quizzes, interactive learning and instant rewards.
The idea is to make Independence Day something children experience rather than simply watch or read about. Alongside the opportunity to enter Vidhana Soudha and the Grand Assembly Hall,children can move through a Living Museum of the freedom movement, explore the Karnataka Freedom Path,participate in Constitution Square activities and experience the larger cultural celebrations unfolding around Vidhana Soudha.
With their families accompanying them, the day offers parents and children an opportunity to share an experience that combines curiosity,learning,celebration and a rare glimpse into the State’s democratic institutions.
Children are at the heart of Freedom Habba because the celebration is intended to create memories and a deeper understanding of freedom, democracy and citizenship for the next generation.
“We are opening the doors of the Vidhana Soudha to our children. I want every child who walks through those doors on August 15 to go home with a memory that lasts a lifetime.
We want our children to celebrate not only our freedom, but also to understand the values, institutions and shared citizenship that sustain our democracy,” said Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda.
Freedom Habba is envisioned as Bengaluru’s first-of-its-kind, people-led Independence Day celebration, transforming August 15 from a ceremonial occasion into a day-long celebration created and experienced by citizens themselves.
Under the theme “Namma Ooru.Nimma Ooru.Ellara Bengaluru,”the celebrations will bring together families, communities,artists and citizens from across Karnataka and India through cultural performances,the India Parade,regional cuisine,crafts, the Living Museum, district-themed freedom struggle pavilions, Constitution Square, music and other activities around Vidhana Soudha.
