*Minister Ramalinga Reddy Assures Funds from MLA Local Area Development Scheme for Expansion to Dairy Circle and Other Locations.
The comprehensive development project to beautify the underside of the Silk Board Flyover towards Hosur Road—aimed at benefiting pedestrians and the general public on the lines of the Bellandur Flyover model—was officially launched today by Corporation Commissioner K.N.Ramesh.
As part of the’Just Clean Bengaluru’ campaign initiated by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA),in collaboration with the ‘India Rising Trust’ NGO and under the CSR initiative of CGI,over 60 CGI employees participated as volunteers to execute the wall painting and beautification drive.
Attractive Silk-Themed Wall Art:
In line with the identity of the Silk Board Junction, volunteers joined hands to enhance the look of the junction by painting traditional silk saree designs—such as Temple Borders,Mango motifs,and attractive Peacock artwork—on the flyover walls and pillars.
Participation of Minister Ramalinga Reddy and GBA Chief Commissioner:
Minister for Forests,Ecology,and Environment Ramalinga Reddy,along with GBA Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao,participated in the wall beautification drive and encouraged the volunteers.
Assurance of MLA Funds by Minister Ramalinga Reddy:
Speaking at the event,Minister Ramalinga Reddy praised such Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives as role models for urban beautification.
He promised financial assistance from his MLA funds to beautify the underside of the Dairy Circle flyover in a similar manner.
He further added that public space rejuvenation under the flyovers along the Outer Ring Road from Silk Board to K.R.Puram—including Bellandur,Iblur,Agara,HSR Layout,and Mahadevapura—would be expanded in phases in collaboration with the India Rising Trust.
Directives by Chief Commissioner for Public-Friendly Facilities:
GBA Chief Commissioner,Maheshwar Rao stated that the drive should go beyond mere painting to make the vast space fully useful for the public.
He directed officials to set up structured parking to prevent haphazard parking by motorists under the other side of the flyover,along with a play area,a designated vending zone,and proper lighting arrangements.
Seating and Well-Equipped Footpaths for Commuters’ Convenience:
Following a site visit two days ago,strict instructions were issued to corporation officials to clear the silt-laden space under the flyover and level the ground.
Acting swiftly,officials thoroughly cleaned the site. Following the wall beautification,the corporation will transform this location into a well-organized public space in the coming days.
Further,South City Corporation Commissioner,K.N. Ramesh mentioned that since Silk Board is a major transit hub,seating facilities will be arranged for the thousands of commuters waiting for buses and the metro to rest.
The event was attended by Bommanahalli Zone Chief Engineer Smt.Malathi,Swachh Bengaluru-GBA Ambassador and India Rising Trust representative Arun Pai,India Rising Trust Designer Aniruddha Abhyankar, and engineers from the corporation.
