The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has busted a racket allegedly involved in installing digital chips in gambling cards to manipulate games and cheat players,and detained a man from RT Nagar.
The accused,Mohmed Ismail alias Babu,was allegedly manufacturing and modifying gambling cards by installing digital devices/chips and supplying them to gambling organisers across Karnataka.
According to the complaint filed by Mahadevaiah S,CCB Special Enquiry Wing,the CCB received credible information that Ismail and his associates were operating from a house at No.35/1,2nd Cross, Dharmanna Garden,Dinnur,Chamundinagar,within RT Nagar police limits.
The CCB team allegedly found that the accused had stored digital equipment used to modify the gambling cards.
The cards were then allegedly supplied to organisers conducting gambling activities,with the purpose of manipulating the outcome of games and cheating members of the public.
Investigators suspect that the accused were part of an organised network that supplied these modified cards to gambling operators,who used them to lure people into gambling and make illegal profits.
The CCB has registered a case under Sections 112,3(5), 318(2) and 318(4)of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Police are now probing the network,including the source of the digital equipment,the persons who purchased the modified cards and the gambling organisers who allegedly used them.
