Elderly Couple Die by Suicide in Basaveshwaranagar;Financial Stress Over Medical Expenses Suspected

An elderly couple allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison at their residence in Manjunath Nagar, with police suspecting that mounting medical expenses may have driven them to take the extreme step.

The deceased have been identified as Eshwar Achari (73) and his wife Gowri (66).

Senior officer told reporters that Gowri had been bedridden after losing mobility due to prolonged illness.
The couple’s two daughters had reportedly been bearing the cost of her treatment.

However,Eshwar and Gowri were said to be distressed over the financial burden their medical expenses had placed on their children.

Police said the couple allegedly consumed poison at their house on Wednesday night when no one else was present.

The incident came to light when their daughter repeatedly called them the following morning but received no response.She later visited the house and found both of them dead.

The Basaveshwaranagar police visited the spot, conducted an inspection,and have registered a case. Further investigation is underway.
