At approximately 8:30 AM on July 4, 2026,a BMTC bus (Vehicle No.AQ 4163, Schedule No.360B/15) operated by OHM Mobility under Depot-7,traveling from Kempegowda Bus Station (KBS) to Attibele,was involved in a road accident near KR Circle.
The accident occurred when the BMTC bus was moving forward after crossing the KR Circle traffic signal and was hit from behind by a Tata Smart Mobility electric bus (Registration No. KA-03-AJ-6163) operated under Depot-3.
All passengers traveling in the OHM Mobility-operated BMTC bus are safe, and no serious injuries have been reported.
However,approximately 15 passengers,one driver,and two conductors traveling in the Tata Smart Mobility electric bus sustained minor injuries.
They were immediately shifted to St. Martha’s Hospital for treatment. Of those admitted, 11 have been discharged after receiving treatment, while the remaining 7 are continuing to receive medical care. BMTC is fully bearing all medical expenses related to the treatment of the injured.
Immediately after being informed of the incident, Transport Minister,B.S. Suresh (Byrathi),BMTC Chairman,V.S. Aradhya,Transport Department Secretary, Smt.Deepa M. Cholan,IAS,Managing Director of KSRTC,K.B.Shivakumar, IAS,and BMTC Managing Director,Raghunandan Murthy,IAS,visited St.Martha’s Hospital.
They enquired about the health condition of the injured, offered support and reassurance,and assured them that BMTC would bear all treatment expenses.
The dignitaries also held discussions with hospital authorities and instructed them to provide the best possible medical care to all injured persons.
BMTC is continuously monitoring the situation and extending all necessary assistance and support to the injured passengers and staff.
Key Road Safety Measures Implemented by BMTC:
Mandatory safety briefings are conducted daily for drivers and conductors before the commencement of duty, emphasizing safe driving practices and the consequences of accidents.
Regular residential safety training camps are organized for drivers.
Continuous road safety awareness programs are conducted across the organization.
Every accident is thoroughly investigated, with root-cause analysis undertaken to identify and implement preventive measures.
Cardiac health screening is conducted for all employees above 40 years of age at Jayadeva Hospital, with necessary treatment and medical guidance provided wherever required.
BMTC drivers receive periodic specialized training from experts at the Bangalore Traffic Management Centre (BTMC) on traffic regulations,accident-free driving practices, and road safety.
Passenger safety remains BMTC’s highest priority. The Corporation is committed to further strengthening safety measures and providing reliable, secure,and accident-free public transport services to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future.
