Farmers staged a protest by blocking the Mysuru–Bengaluru Highway near Sanjay Circle in Mandya on Friday, demanding the release of irrigation water for agricultural purposes.
As part of the demonstration,the protesters cooked food on the highway,disrupting traffic and drawing attention to their demand.
They warned that if irrigation water is not released immediately, they would intensify their agitation and launch district-wide protests in the coming days.
Police were deployed at the protest site to maintain law and order and regulate traffic as the demonstration continued.
