The Bengaluru City Police of cottonpet police have registered a suo motu case after a video allegedly showing a man sexually assaulting a cow in the Akkipet area of the city surfaced on social media.
According to the complaint filed by PSI,Sumangala S.A. of Cottonpet Police Station,who is in charge of the station’s social media monitoring cell,the incident came to light on Saturday after an X account identified as “GarudEyeintel Defence Intel”tagged the police and posted a video seeking immediate action.

Police verified the digital evidence and traced the location to Cottonpet Police Station limits.
The video shows the suspect arriving on a two-wheeler, scanning the deserted street and then subjecting the animal to cruelty.
Senior officer with cottonpet Police inspector immediately rushed to the crime scene and after collecting information about the incident he said the video allegedly showed a man arriving on a two-wheeler near Akkipet Jain temple in RB Road on May 5.
After noticing that nobody was around,the accused allegedly approached a cow that was lying on the roadside and engaged in an unnatural sexual act, causing physical abuse to the animal.
During verification,police confirmed that the location falls under the jurisdiction of Cottonpet police station limits.
An Animal lover and resident said such heinous act shouldn’t happen but has happened and blamed the GBA Authorities for non functioning of street lights and said the incident has shocked us and has hurted us we request the police and government to nab the pervert who has done this heinous act and demand his arrest.
Another resident Shivu said when a cow can be raped in night then how people can walk in night when cows are not safe how women’s will safe to walk and blamed the GBA authorities for no proper street lights in the sub aertial roads.
Based on the complaint,a case under prevention of cruelty to animals act and also under 325 of BNS act has been registered and efforts are under way to identify and trace the accused.
Senior officer told reporters that we have registered a case and special team has been formed under Cottonpet police inspector to nab the culprit he added.
