Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sathyavani has alleged threat to her life and held MLA Byrathi Basavaraj directly responsible if any harm comes to her.
Sathyavani, president of the AAP’s Vignana Nagar ward under KR Puram Assembly constituency, lodged a complaint with the Bengaluru Police Commissioner on Saturday, accusing local BJP leaders of vandalising her car parked outside her residence.
Addressing reporters, she claimed that last month, over 50 defamatory flex banners targeting her were put up across the ward and near her residence. She alleged that the act was carried out with the backing of the MLA to malign her character.
She further stated that attempts were made to prevent her from filing a complaint at the HAL Police Station, and that police registered a case only after intervention from the Karnataka Lokayukta.
However, she alleged that no stringent action was taken against the accused due to political pressure.
Sathyavani also alleged that the situation in KR Puram has become unsafe for women, accusing the police of acting under the influence of the MLA.
She claimed that the MLA’s supporters continued their alleged harassment and,on Friday night, vandalised her car parked in front of her house. If anything happens to me,MLA Byrathi Basavaraj will be directly responsible,” she said.

Sathyavani added that she has been actively involved in protests against lake encroachments and addressing civic issues in the constituency, and alleged that the attacks were politically motivated as she is preparing to contest the upcoming elections.
Several party leaders, including Seetharam Gundappa, Veena Sarav,Ashok Mrutyunjaya,Munesh M,Anna Nayak, Naveen Iyer and Mohan Raj,were present during the press interaction.
