Fresh allegations of internal discord and harassment within the police department have emerged after a Superintendent of Police from the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement (DCRE) formally wrote to the Director General of Police (DGP),seeking permission to expose alleged misconduct by certain IPS officers.
In the letter, the SP alleged that some IPS officers in Karnataka have been misusing their authority, displaying arrogance, discrimination, and favoritism towards subordinate staff.
The communication further claimed that a few officers from outside the state were allegedly targeting Kannada-origin officers and misusing their positions to suppress them.
The SP requested the DGP to facilitate a meeting with the Chief Minister,Home Minister, and Home Secretary between April 18 and April 29,2026,seeking 30 minutes to present detailed evidence regarding alleged harassment, abuse of power, and injustice within the department.
The letter also specifically mentioned allegations against Mangaluru Police Commissioner,Sudheer Kumar Reddy.
Meanwhile,in a separate development,Inspector Srinivas of the West DCRE police station released a video accusing senior officers, including the SP and a DYSP,of harassment and mental pressure. He warned that continued harassment could push him to take extreme steps, including suicide.
Srinivas also alleged that a transfer order copy was fabricated and submitted to senior officers, and claimed that Dalit officers in the police department were facing injustice.
In the video,he appealed to the state government to intervene and address the issue.
The allegations from both the senior officer and the Inspector point towards serious internal grievances within the Civil Rights Enforcement wing.
Authorities are yet to issue an official response, and further inquiry is expected.
