The Cyber Crime Police of Bengaluru City have arrested a man for allegedly creating fake documents and morphed audio clips to defame a senior KAS officer and former MUDA Commissioner through social media.
According to the complaint lodged by G.B.Natesh,a senior KAS officer and former Commissioner of the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA),a Mysuru-based individual identified as Snehmayi Krishna allegedly used his Facebook account to circulate fabricated documents,edited photographs and manipulated audio clips targeting the complainant.
Based on the complaint,a case was registered at the Bengaluru City Cyber Crime Police Station on February 18, 2026,and an investigation was taken up.
During the probe,police found that the alleged acts stemmed from personal enmity between the complainant and one Vinod.
Investigations revealed that due to differences in business dealings,Vinod allegedly contacted Snehmayi Krishna and shared unverified and misleading information with the intent to malign Natesh.
Police said that without verifying the authenticity of the material received, Snehmayi Krishna allegedly published and circulated the content on social media platforms with the intention of defamation.
Vinod B.N,a resident of Bogadi in Mysuru,was issued a notice and appeared before the police for questioning.
Upon examination and based on supplementary evidence collected,police arrested him and produced him before the jurisdictional court.
In connection with the case,Snehmayi Krishna of Bandipalya,Mysuru,has also been served a notice to appear for inquiry.Further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile,police said that another complaint has been registered at the Vidhana Soudha Police Station against Snehmayi Krishna for allegedly spreading false information.
In the ongoing investigation,officials have collected and examined the social media posts shared via Facebook, mobile numbers,vehicle registration details and other digital evidence.
Preliminary findings indicate that the circulated content was false and misleading.Police stated that further investigation is in progress.
