Karnataka To Host ‘5K Safe-A-Thon’ In Bengaluru On February 1,Says Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy

Emphasising the need for public awareness to curb road accidents,Karnataka Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Wednesday said that understanding and following traffic rules is the responsibility of every citizen.

Addressing a press conference at the Transport Department’s central office in Shanthinagar,the Minister announced that a‘5K Safe-A-Thon’ will be organised in Bengaluru on February 1,2026,to promote road safety awareness.

The event will be conducted under the theme“Our Roads –Our Safety”by the Transport Department in co-ordination with various other departments.

The Minister expressed concern over the rising number of road accidents in recent times,stating that over-speeding,violation of traffic rules and negligence are the primary causes.

Creating awareness among the public to prevent such incidents is the main objective of the campaign,he said.

“Road safety is not just the responsibility of the government.Every individual must follow traffic rules to protect lives,”Ramalinga Reddy said,urging citizens to actively participate in the awareness drive.

He called upon the public,especially youth,to take part in the Safe-A-Thon by walking,cycling or running,and to pledge for safe road usage.
