Cracking whip on the 3 erring Inspectors,Police Commissioner Suspends Kothanur,Bagalur and Avalahalli Police Inspectors for negligence after drug seizure

Cracking a whip on the three erring inspectors who brought major embarrassment to the department,Police Commissioner,Seemant Kumar Singh has ordered the suspension of three police inspectors following a massive drug seizure carried out by inter-state agencies.

The suspensions were ordered on grounds of negligence,with the Commissioner stating that the officers failed to gather actionable intelligence despite the Mane Manege Police initiative and the city police’s stated zero-tolerance policy against drugs.

The inspectors are accused of failing to prevent the storage of a huge quantity of narcotics within their respective jurisdictions.

The disciplinary action follows a high-profile operation led by the Maharashtra Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF),in coordination with the Bengaluru Police and the Narcotics Control Department,which resulted in the seizure of a large drug consignment.

The suspended officers are,Sabarish,Chethan Kumar and Ramakrishna Reddy,inspectors attached to Kothanur Police Station,Avalahalli Police Station, and Bagalur Police Station.

Meanwhile,a city-based journalist has been booked for allegedly attempting to extort money from the suspended inspectors.

According to the police complaint,the accused allegedly contacted the inspectors and demanded Rs.5 lakh each, promising not to report on the case and claiming he could help them avoid suspension.

Police said the entire conversation was recorded on a mobile phone, and based on the evidence,a case has been registered against the journalist.Further investigation is underway.
