True Soldier: Rahul Gandhi pays Tribute To “Friend, Guide” Oscar Fernandes in Bengaluru

Oscar Fernandes passed away on September 13 at a private hospital in Mangaluru as he was being treated for a head injury that he had suffered while practising yoga at his residence in July.

Today,Rahul Gandhi reached Bengaluru to attend the last rites of senior party leader Oscar Fernandes.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday met family members of late senior Union Minister Oscar Fernandes in Bengaluru.State Congress President DK Shivakumar was also present.

Karnataka unit Congress President DK Shivakumar received the mortal remains of veteran party leader and former Union Minister Oscar Fernandes at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office in Bengaluru today morning.

Meanwhile,Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretary Ranjit Singh Surjewala, K.C. Venugopal, State Congress President DK Shivakumar, Rajya Sabha opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge, Assembly leader of opposition Siddaramaiah, Union Minister KH Muniyappa, and Former DCM Dr G. Parameshwar came to pay their homage to the leader and participated in the final blessing at St. Patrick’s Church and Burial at Hosur Cemetery.

Fernandes was hospitalised in July after suffering a fall at his house while doing yoga. As he was found to have an internal injury, surgery was carried out by doctors. A close confidante of the Gandhi’s family,Fernandes had always remained a disciplined party man throughout his political life.
