The Basavanagudi police have arrested Afzal,a law student,in connection with an incident in which an entrepreneur was injured after being hit by an air gun pellet.
Senior officer told reporters that the accused was using an air gun meant for shooting practice inside his flat.
Afzal had reportedly set up a target near the window of his apartment and was practising firing when one of the pellets missed the target and travelled outside.
The stray pellet struck Rajagopal,an entrepreneur,who was walking on the road below,causing injuries.
Initially,when the injured man was questioned,no specific information or motive emerged,and he stated that he had not received any threat calls.
Basavanagudi police then began a detailed investigation to trace the source of the pellet,examining various possible angles from which it could have been fired.
Suspecting that the shot may have come from outside, the police conducted a thorough inspection of the road and nearby buildings.
During the search,police checked several flats in the area and eventually established that the pellet had been fired from Afzal’s flat.An air gun used for shooting practice was recovered from the accused.
A case has been registered at the Basavanagudi Police Station, and the accused has been arrested and is being interrogated further.Police said further action will be taken based on the investigation findings.
