The Central Division cyber crime police have registered an FIR against unknown person for creating a fake government notification claimed that state government had declared November 15 as a holiday for schools, colleges and government offices following the death of Padma Shri awardee and renowned environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka,forging the sigature of the senior official.
Based on the complaint filed by Elisha Andrews, Program Director (ULMS),E-Governance on Saturday , the police charged the accused under section 66(c) ( Identity theft )and summoned the whatsapp group (saptagiri) admin from the notification was generated first.
The fake notification was fabricated using digital photoshop and circulated in whatsapp groups to spread misinformation and misguide people .
Mrs.Andrews whose details has been misused to create the fake notification asked the police to track down the accused and take legal action so that such mischief should not be repeated .
The notification circulated in several whatsapp groups caused major confusion among the people,parents and school admins at the sensitive time .
