The Kumbalagodu police have arrested a 40-year-old man and recovered fire crackers worth Rs.10.3 lakh which he had stored illegally with a plan to sell it to the people for upcoming Deepavali festival.
Based on tip off,a team of officials raided the godown in Samruddhi layout and seized 317 boxes of crackers which he had stored without any safety measures .
According to the police,the accused Srinivasa had purchased the fire crackers without bill from Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu transported to city in truck and stored in his godown.
It may be recalled that city police commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh held a meeting recently directed the police to step up vigilance and crack down on illegal sale .
