Abandoned toolbox left by HAL Employee by mistake at KR Puram metro station triggered panic & later turned into hoax

An abandoned tool box belonging to a HAL employee left by mistake at the busy KR Puram metro station triggered panic for sometime on Wednesday.

Few commuters noticed the bag and alerted the metro security who rushed to the spot and checked through metal detector to get a red flag.

Soon the police were alerted who rushed along with the bomb detection and disposal squad and a fire tender and cordoned the area to check the bagged to confirm it as hoax.

Meanwhile,the HAL employee identified as Manjunath Jadhav,a technician at the aircraft wing of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL),returned to the spot and told the police that the box belonged to him and had left it by mistake .

Inquiries revealed that Manjunath had gone to Haryana for training and returned to the city.He had carried around four to five bags and travelled in the metro to reach home .

After getting at the metro station he left the tool kit bag behind and ventured out with other baggage.He later realized that he had left the toolkit box which he is supposed to return and came to collect.

After verifying his claim,the police let him out with a warning to be careful .

Panic gripped for around half an hour as it is a busy Metro junction and the security staff was on high alert due to upcoming Independence Day and PM visit .

Hence the bomb squad and other personnel were on immediately scrambled to avert any incident.”
