Investigating a case of rupees two crore robbery,the Vidyaranyapura police on Tuesday busted a gang of 15 including the complainant in the case for robbing businessmen on the pretext of getting the cash converted into digital currency .
Based on the complaint filed by,Sriharsha Venkatesh Murthy,33,a city based businessman in June last week, the police Analysed the CCTV footage and call record details before zeroing in on the gang including the complainant.
Investigations revealed that Sriharsha,offered to convert the Cash of Rs.2 Crore belonging to two businessman identified as Bharath Singh from Bengaluru and Abhishek from Mangaluru,offering to convert their cash into USDT crypto currency and return the money through RTGS premium facility with maximum benefits .
As per the deal the accused along with the two businessmen went to the shop of one of the accused and counting cash when,a armed gang barged into the shop assaulted them and fled with the cash .
The accused also locked Sriharsha along with Bharath Singh,Abhishek and their three friends in the shop,to make it look like robbery .
However the police while probing the case found something amiss and began to verify the facts of the incidents in details before arrested Sriharsha along with 14 others .
The other accused have been identified as,Rakshith M. Chandrashekhar,Benjamin Harsha,Syed Akhib, Mohammed Suhail,Salman Khan,Muheeb S,Mohsin Khan,Salman Khan (same name second accused ),Syed Amjab,Syed Afreed,Syed Wasim and Mohammed Ateeq.
The police have recovered cash Rs.1.1 Crore along with cars,bikes,mobile phones and weapons used by the accused to commit the crime.
There are four more accused identified as Sandeep, Sheikh Sadu,Rakesh and Mohammed Sabeer are on the run and efforts are on to track them down.
Appreciating the police team for cracking the case,City Police Commissioner,Seemanth Kumar Singh said that the accused are habitual offenders involved in similar offences earlier.The investigations are on to ascertain their criminal records,he added.
