SWAC HOLDS ANNUAL ‘MAINTENANCE CONFERENCE-2019’ IN GANDHINAGAR

            A “Maintenance Conference 2019” was held on 13 Sep 19 at HQ South Western Air Command, Gandhinagar.  It was conducted through video conference portal of Air Force Network (AFNET), which was attended by 152 personnel from 28 locations, continuing the initiative towards Digital India.  This conference is held annually by SWAC to ensure that the IAF’s maintenance philosophy gets fine tuned to meet operational preparedness after brainstorming key maintenance issues for management of various assets held by IAF.

 

            The conference commenced with its inauguration by Air Marshal HS Arora AVSM ADC Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, SWAC. The Air Mshl emphasized continuation of video portal based interactions by HQ SWAC, without physical movement of personnel, thereby cutting costs and saving man hours.  He appreciated good maintenance initiative in the recent past and emphasized on the need of correct maintenance safety practices for increasing op potential of the IAF.

 

            The conference involved video interaction of Chief Engineering Officers, Chief Technical Officers, Commanding Officers and Senior Logistics Officers and included talks by Guest Speakers from Air HQ on issues affecting HR availability, training and maintenance of assets at bases under HQ SWAC Area of Responsibility (AOR) including aircraft, guided weapon, radar, navigational aids and associated ground support systems.

 

            A Compendium of Innovations was also released by Air Mshl HS Arora during the conference, towards enabling Make in India a success.  It includes 39 innovations carried out in units under SWAC.  This was a follow up of Seminar on Innovations & Indigenization conducted by HQ SWAC on 12 Jul 19 at Air Force Station Vadodara.
