City Court convicted duo for filing false cases to take revenge against their rivals & slapped fine of Rs.500&100

T he city court have convicted two people for filing false complaints to take revenge against their rivals in the last two years and slapped a fine of ₹ 500 and ₹ 100 respectively .

According to the police,a case of assault has been filed at the Sampigehalli Police Station in December 2022 , which following the investigation found to be fake .

Probe revealed that the complainant,identified as Shiva, alleged that Waseem had attacked him with an iron rod and attempted to cause grievous injury.

However,after a thorough inquiry,police determined that the incident was an accident and that the allegations were fabricated.

The police submitted a ‘B Report’ in December 2020, stating that the case as false.The police also filed a case under perjury against Shiva for filing a false complaint and a charge sheet was submitted to the court.

The accused confessed in court,leading to legal action under Section 182 of the CrPC ( misleading the police and wasting law enforcement resources) .

The court convicted shiva and slapped a fine of ₹ 500 and directed him to undergo five days simple imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.

Similarly,a vehicle theft case registered at Amruthahalli Police Station was found to be fabricated after an investigation revealed that the complainant had falsely reported the theft.

The case,filed by Shankara Reddy in July 2021,claimed that his vehicle had been stolen from outside his house.

However,upon reviewing CCTV footage and conducting an inquiry,the police found that Reddy had voluntarily gave his vehicle to a friend for a trip out of town with his family.

It was determined that the false complaint was filed to fraudulently claim insurance.As a result,the police submitted a ‘B Report’ in March 2022,classifying the case as false.

Legal proceedings followed,and the accused later confessed in court.The imposed a fine of ₹ 100 with a default sentence of five days of simple imprisonment in case of non-payment.

The conviction was made under Section 182 of the CrPC for misleading the police and filing a false case.

City police commissioner,B Dayananda said that in the last five years,six cases of false complaints have been registered out of which the police have filed charge-sheet against four accused .

While two among the four accused have been convicted and slapped with fine,the police have requested the court to take legal action against the other two cases.
