The death of a 22-year-old woman in a road accident on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway has taken a disturbing turn, with her parents alleging that she was murdered as part of a pre-planned conspiracy and demanding a thorough investigation.
Bhumika,a resident of Ramo halli in Bengaluru, died on October 3 after a speeding car hit her while she was crossing the expressway near Bairapatna village in Channapatna taluk of Bengaluru South district.
Initially treated as a hit-and-run accident, the case is now being investigated from the angle of a possible murder following a complaint by her mother,Pushpalatha.
According to the complaint,Bhumika had been in a relationship with Kiran,a native of Channapatna, who allegedly married another woman.
The two had reportedly been involved in frequent disputes over the relationship.
The complaint states that Bhumika travelled from Bengaluru to Channapatna on the night of October 2 in a car driven by Kishore.
Kiran allegedly made her consume alcohol, following which he and his brother,Ashik, are accused of assaulting her.
Bhumika reportedly called another friend,Harish, that night and informed him about the incident.
The circumstances surrounding her presence on the expressway have raised further suspicions.
According to the complaint,an unidentified man brought Bhumika on a scooter and dropped her by the roadside.
Moments later, while she was crossing the road,a speeding car heading towards Mysuru hit her, killing her on the spot.
Her family has questioned why the scooter rider allegedly left without looking back despite the fatal collision, suspecting that the incident may not have been accidental.
The collision was captured on CCTV cameras. Channapatna police, who initially registered the case as a road accident, have taken the parents’allegations seriously and begun further investigation.
Bengaluru South Superintendent of Police Rohan Jagadish said the investigation was continuing based on the complaint and CCTV footage.
Police would trace and question the scooter rider and the car driver,he said.Police are investigating the allegations and the circumstances leading to Bhumika’s death. The suspected murder angle is yet to be in establishe
