Former CCB inspector convicted in corruption and sentenced to four years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs.50 lakhs

The 23rd Additional City Civil and Session court on Monday convicted former CCB inspector in a corruption case and sentenced him to undergo four years of Rigorous Imprisonment and a fine of Rs.50 lakh.

The court also convicted wife of the former inspector with three years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs.50,000.

The convict Shami-ur-Rahman,was booked by
Lokayukta officials for amassing disproportionate assets worth Rs.79.7 lakh which was assessed to be 230 per cent more to his known source of income.

During the course of investigations the Lokayukta officials found that Shami-ur-Rahman’s wife Bilkish Jahan had helped him to acquire benami assets in her name and filed charge-sheet accordingly.
