Five people were injured in two separate incidents involving the bursting of Ring Main Units (RMUs),used in medium-voltage power distribution networks,at Benniganahalli and Bagalur in eastern Bengaluru, officials said.
The first incident occurred between 12:30 and 1 PM on Tuesday near the Coca-Cola godown at Benniganahalli,within the limits of Ramamurthy Nagar police station.
Four people—Narayan (50),Azeem Pasha,Chethan (23) and Lakshmi (22)—sustained injuries in the incident.
The injured,who are from different parts of Bengaluru, are undergoing treatment at a hospital,police said.A motorcycle was also damaged.
Ramamurthy Nagar police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The second incident occurred at around 9.50 am on Wednesday near Bagalur Cross,where an RMU reportedly burst,injuring Mohammed Afroz,who was walking along the footpath.He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. The footage shows Afroz walking along the footpath near the electrical equipment when it suddenly bursts.
Officials said an RMU is part of a medium-voltage power distribution network and that such bursting incidents are very rare.
Technical officials are examining the equipment to determine the exact cause of the incident.
