Bengaluru Central City Corporation has clarified that actor Prakash Raj’s name was not deleted from the electoral roll,but was marked as “shifted”after Booth Level Officers (BLOs) found that he was no longer residing at the address where he was registered.
The clarification came after a video featuring Prakash Raj circulated on social media on Tuesday,in which he alleged that his name had been removed from the electoral roll during the Summary Intensive Revision (SIR),despite being born and raised in Bengaluru.
According to the Bengaluru Central City Corporation, Prakash Raj’s name was registered at Serial Number 970,Part Number 1 of the 163-Shanthinagar Assembly Constituency as of June 16,2026,when the electoral roll data was frozen for SIR activities.
During the house-to-house verification, the BLO concerned found that Prakash Raj had permanently shifted from his registered address at No.266,Garden Apartment.
The BLO reportedly verified the information with neighbours and the property manager.The flat owner also confirmed over the phone that Prakash Raj had not been residing at the address for the past four years and that the premises were currently occupied by other tenants.
Based on the statements and verification,a mahazar (spot inspection report) was prepared and his voter status was marked as “Shifted”, the civic body said.
The property manager reportedly reaffirmed the information during a telephone conversation with officials at around 5.30 pm on August 11.
The Additional District Election Officer (Central) and Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner, Jagadish G,said he subsequently spoke to Prakash Raj over the phone.
According to the official,the actor confirmed that he was no longer residing at the old address but was residing at another address within the Shanthinagar Assembly Constituency.
The civic body said Prakash Raj can subsequently apply for registration at his present residential address through Form 6,following which his electoral registration can be processed as per the prescribed procedure.
“Based on the verifiable facts,the allegations made by Mr. Prakash Raj have been verified and found not to be true,”the press note stated.
Officials maintained that the action taken by the BLO was carried out in accordance with the due process of law and statutory guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
