H averi (Shiggaon):Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai said the current Congress government is initiating an investigation into the procurement of PPE kits during the COVID period.

The BJP is ready to face any probe and will not bow to such hollow threats from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Making these comments during a campaign for BJP candidate Bharat Bommai in Hulagur and Tadas villages, he praised former Chief Minister Yediyurappa as a leader with a big heart, particularly for farmers, citing how Yediyurappa provided free electricity for farmers’ pump sets on his very first day as CM and introduced the Bhagyalakshmi scheme for girls.

The scheme has been in place for 18 years, but the current government is unable to distribute funds under it, claiming that the treasury is empty.

Bommai complimented his predecessor for enabling the construction of five lakh houses in the Shiggaon constituency, even as some officials opposed the decision, saying it was impossible to build houses at that scale. But Yediyurappa insisted on it and ordered it to be done.

Referring to the COVID period, the MP noted that PPE kits were not available and had to be imported to save lives. But the the current government is focusing on post-mortem investigations when thousands of lives were saved under Yediyurappa’s leadership. The BJP would not be intimidated by these threats.

Questioning the credibility of Housing Minister,Zameer Ahmed,Bommai demanded if he had provided even a single house to Shiggaon-Savanur and what right he had to seek votes there.

The incumbent the government has withdrawn the 300 crore rupees allocated for the constituency of which only 100 crore rupees were promised before the election, warning that it would not be released afterward.

The former CM criticized the political interference in the local police station, saying that the police should be catching criminals, not harassing ordinary citizens, and assured people that any action against them would not be tolerated.

Bommai also mentioned that Yediyurappa gave him the opportunity to serve as the irrigation minister, enabling irrigation for seven lakh acres of land across Karnataka. Yediyurappa’s role in initiating the construction of 500,000 houses in the constituency cannot be forgotten.

He accused Siddaramaiah of not contributing even a single rupee to Shiggaon in one and a half years, and taking back the 300 crore rupees that he had sanctioned, only to promise 100 crore rupees before the election.

He called on voters to support BJP candidate Bharat Bommai by voting for the BJP symbol and ensuring his victory.
