*Officials Directed to Inspect Works at Every Stage.
Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister Dr.G. Parameshwara today chaired a progress review meeting at Vidhana Soudha of various development authorities under the Revenue Department and issued necessary directions to officials.
During the meeting,he strongly reprimanded officials of the Kudalasangama Board for failing to conduct an audit for the past 35 years.
He said that once the project plan for any work was prepared,the original cost estimate must be revised with proper justification and approved by the Board.The Government would then take the final decision.
He said Rs.24.98 crore had been sought for development works at Chikkasangama, including the construction of a Kalyana Mantapa and a Veda Pathashala,and that necessary action would be taken in this regard.
Dr.Parameshwara said the Basavakalyan Board was established in 2005,but no development work could be undertaken until 2023.
The Cabinet had approved Rs.744 crore for various development works, of which Rs.480 crore had been spent.He directed officials to complete the works related to 17 monuments at the earliest.
Referring to his visit to Basavakalyan with the Chief Minister,he said officials had then assured that the works would be completed by the end of December.
“You are now seeking additional time again.This is not acceptable.All works must be completed at the earliest and made ready for inauguration,”he told the Bidar Deputy Commissioner.
As large-value projects were being undertaken,Dr. Parameshwara directed officials to inspect the works at every stage.He also said that expenditure incurred and verified so far must be audited.
“The finishing of the works is not satisfactory.Officials must inspect the works and issue the necessary directions to the contractors,”he said.
Dr.Parameshwara said a comprehensive Rs.50 crore plan had been prepared for the development of Banavasi.After obtaining the Board’s approval, the proposal would be submitted to the Chief Minister.
Pulling up the Basavana Bagewadi Development Authority, he asked how Rs.2.18 crore had been spent without the required approval.
He directed the Authority to submit complete details of the expenditure and place a proposal outlining the development works to be taken up in the future.
