Man arrested for murdering friend after Drunken Brawl; two accomplices on the Run

The Gangammagudi Police have arrested a man for allegedly murdering his friend following a drunken altercation and later disposing of the body in a park in north Bengaluru.

Police are continuing efforts to trace two other accused who allegedly helped conceal the crime.

The case came to light on April 24,2026,when a resident of Nisarga Layout in Abbigere lodged a complaint after his wife discovered a suspicious sack inside a BDA park during her morning walk.

On reaching the spot, the complainant found a human body stuffed inside the sack,with one leg protruding from it,and immediately alerted the police through the 112 emergency helpline.

Police rushed to the scene and registered a murder case. During the investigation,officers worked on multiple leads to establish the identity of the deceased.

After tracing his relatives, police confirmed the victim as Vidhya Prasad alias Vidhyabharathi,a native of Uttar Pradesh.

As the probe progressed,police detained one of the victim’s associates from Gorakhpur,Uttar Pradesh,on May 20.

During questioning,the accused allegedly confessed to committing the crime with the assistance of two other associates who are currently absconding.

He was subsequently brought to Bengaluru on a transit warrant and later remanded to police custody.

Investigations revealed that both the accused and the deceased were natives of Uttar Pradesh who had migrated to Bengaluru in search of work.They were employed as painters and shared rented accommodation.

According to police,on the night of April 20, the accused and the deceased consumed alcohol at their residence.

An argument reportedly broke out between them,during which the accused allegedly assaulted the victim with repeated blows to the stomach,chest,head and back.The victim later lay down and appeared exhausted.

The following afternoon, after returning from work,the accused and another associate found the victim dead.

Police said the accused then contacted a third accomplice,and the trio conspired to dispose of the body.

That night,they allegedly packed the body into a sack, transported it on a scooter and dumped it inside the compound of a BDA park at Nisarga Layout.

The accused was produced before a court on May 29 and remanded to judicial custody.Police said efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining two accused and further investigation is in progress.

The case was cracked by the Gangammagudi Police under the supervision of Nagesh D. L,Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West Division),and Ravikumar,with the investigation led by Police Inspector Raghu Prasad N.and his team.
