DK Shivakumar has been elected as the new leader of the Congress Legislative Party leader.
In the Congress Legislative Party meeting held at the Conference Hall of Vidhana Soudha today,Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proposed DK Shivakumar’s name as the new leader.Dr G Parameshwara seconded the proposal.
All the legislators supported it unanimously.
AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal announced in a press conference that D K Shivakumar has been elected as the new leader of the Congress Legislative Party.
Earlier,AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala initiated the proceedings stating that the process of electing a new leader of the Congress Legislative Party would proceed with a proposal by Siddaramaiah.
CM Siddaramaiah moved a one-line resolution stating that the matter of electing the new legislative party leader was left to the discretion of the AICC.
Parameshwara seconded it, and all legislators supported it by raising their hands.
AICC General Secretary Surjewala then announced a 10-minute recess,during which CM Siddaramaiah, Venugopal,and Randeep Singh Surjewala held a discussion in the Chief Minister’s chamber.
The election of the new leader was completed after a brief recess.Subsequently,the newly elected leader D K Shivakumar moved a resolution praising the service rendered by outgoing leader Siddaramaiah during his tenure as Chief Minister,and sought the support of the legislators. The meeting endorsed it unanimously.
