A stolen mobile phone and technical analysis helped the Bagalagunte police crack a major jewellery shop burglary case in Bagalagunte,despite investigators initially having no CCTV footage or direct leads.
The Bagalagunte police have arrested three accused in connection with the theft of silver articles worth around Rs.1.2 crore and worth Rs.98.39 lakhs stolen silver articles from a jewellery shop on Hesaraghatta Main Road in Bagalagunte has been recovered so far.
The burglary came to light on April 28,2026,after the shop owner,a resident of Gokul 1st Stage in Yeshwanthpur, discovered that the rear wall of his jewellery store had been broken open and around 70 kg of silver articles stolen.
The accused had also targeted a neighbouring ceramics shop,from where they allegedly stole a laptop,mobile phone,DVR and other valuables.
Senior officer told reporters that the lack of CCTV coverage in the lane behind the shop initially hampered the investigation,forcing special teams to depend on local enquiries,intelligence gathering and technical analysis.
The breakthrough came after investigators traced the mobile phone stolen from the ceramics shop.
The device provided crucial digital and location-based leads that helped police track the movement of the suspects outside Karnataka.
Based on the technical evidence and intelligence inputs, police arrested two accused Suresh (29)and Dhanram (30)from Raipur in Rajasthan.
During interrogation,the duo allegedly confessed to the crime and revealed the involvement of a third associate.
Acting on their statements,police later arrested Nemichand Patel (27)from Dasanapura near Nelamangala.He too allegedly admitted to participating in the burglary during questioning.
Investigators said the stolen silver was quickly disposed of through an interstate network.Portions of the stolen property were allegedly pledged at jewellery shops in Kulkacharla Mandal in Telangana,while some articles were stored at a local residence and others pledged at shops on Mahakali Temple Road in Secunderabad.
Based on the accused persons’disclosures,police conducted coordinated searches between May 12 and May 25 and recovered 35.874 kg of silver articles and ingots from multiple locations.The recovered property has been valued at Rs.98.39 lakh.
All three accused have been remanded to judicial custody. Police are continuing the investigation to ascertain their involvement in other similar burglary cases.
