*Mangalya is a symbol of Hindu religion, how can you tell someone not to wear it?.

*Our guarantee schemes have made history.

*Rs.1.34 lakh crore spent on Five Guarantee schemes in three years.

*Our government has delivered as promised.

*Why is Rajanna trying to bring about a CM change?.

Taking a dig at BJP leaders symbolically travelling by metro train to support PM’s call to use public transport, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar today challenged the state BJP leaders to travel by public transport daily rather than for a symbolic photoshoot.

Speaking to reporters at his official residence in Kumara Park, the DCM said,“These people use public transport for a day or two as a symbolism.

Will Somanna and other ministers and BJP leaders travel by public transport every single day?If they do,we have no objection.

Let them save petrol and diesel;let them stop eating food cooked in cooking oil. They said don’t travel abroad. I won’t question their foreign trips.”

When asked whether he had prayed at Tirupati only for the country’s economic improvement or for something else too, he said:

“Mangalya is a symbol of our religion. In Hinduism, the mangalya binds the bond between man and woman. This tradition has continued since the time of the gods.

We even adorn our deities with the mangalya. In such a situation, how can you tell someone not to buy a mangalya?.

You buy it with money you have earned. How can you tell someone not to buy gold at their own wedding, not to tie the thali, and instead just tie a turmeric root? You couldn’t control price rises—now you’re telling people to use less cooking oil and less fuel.”

*Our guarantee schemes have made history:

“Our government has spent ₹1.34 lakh crore on the Five Guarantee schemes in three years and has given the Bhoo Guarantee as the sixth guarantee — thereby making history in the country. Oxford University has studied our guarantee schemes and described the guarantee schemes as ‘Shining a light in the darkness.’

Our program is a model for the nation. The very BJP that used to criticize our schemes has copied and implemented them in other states. They are following our model to win elections.I congratulate them for following Congress programmes rather than implementing their own schemes.”

“Our achievements have given us satisfaction.Through Gruha Lakshmi, ₹69,793 crore has been disbursed to 1.24 crore women at ₹2,000 per month.

Through Gruha Jyothi,1.64 crore families have benefited, at a cost of ₹26,115 crore.

Through the Shakti scheme, women have travelled free 726 crore times, at a cost of ₹18,943 crore.

Anna Bhagya has benefited 4.4 crore people at a cost of ₹11,821 crore. Yuva Nidhi has cost ₹950 crore. We have kept our word.”

*Our government has walked the talk:

“We have fulfilled our goal of establishing a medical college in every district—we have started medical colleges in all districts except two.

We have ensured justice for all communities.During COVID,the BJP government provided no assistance to the people.

Our government has given government jobs to the families of victims of the Chamarajanagar oxygen tragedy.”

“Our government has laid a strong foundation to elevate Bengaluru to world-class status.Opposition parties have acknowledged our programmes;it is natural for them to criticize us politically.

If they want to correct us, let them. For the achievements of three years,I thank the officials, the people of the state, the opposition for their suggestions and criticism, and the media for their guidance.I congratulate everyone.”

*Q&A:

*Why is Rajanna trying to bring about a CM change?.

When asked about Rajanna’s statement that Parameshwara should become CM if there is a change, Shivakumar said: “Why is Rajanna trying to change the CM?.

There’s nothing wrong in saying the CM should continue. If he wants Parameshwara to become CM, does that mean the CM should step down?.

Have I ever said the CM should be changed? I have said no such thing anywhere. It is Rajanna himself who is pushing for a CM change.Ask him about it.”

When asked about the Apex Bank and KMF issues not being resolved, he said: “Ask the CM about that.”

When asked about MLAs demanding ministerial positions,he said: “Ask the CM about that. The CM has said he will expand the cabinet.”

When asked about Congress leaders holding a meeting at George’s residence,he said:”We discussed state politics and how to bring the party back to power.”

When asked if the discussion was about the CM post,he said:”You all are making up all the stories.”

When asked if he had worked hard and was now asking for his reward, he said: “Have I really worked hard? I haven’t asked for a reward from anyone.”

When asked if he would go to Delhi to meet Rahul Gandhi, he said:”He has said he will call.I will go when called.”

When asked if good news would come soon,he said: “Every day is a good day for me.Auspicious day, auspicious moment, auspicious time.”

*Election officials will conduct elections after consulting with officers:

When asked about the Supreme Court directive regarding the GBA election,he said:The directive is to hold elections before August 30.

The election officials will conduct the elections within that date after consulting with the relevant officers.”

*Decision after discussing with the CM:

When asked about the recommendation to suspend AE and AEE officers for negligence in the Bowring Hospital compound wall collapse incident,he said:”The hospital is under PWD.

The compound wall was not reinforced, and excess soil was dumped—that’s why the wall collapsed. There are no corporation engineers involved in this.

I will discuss the matter with the PWD minister and the Chief Minister.”

When asked about disturbances among Youth Congress office-bearers, he said:”There is no disturbance. Those who show indiscipline will be thrown out.”
