Adding another achievement to the Karnataka State Police,the Karnataka State Police Data Center has been awarded the internationally recognised ISO/IEC 27001 certification for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS),recognising its compliance with global standards in cyber security, data protection and information management.
The Karnataka Police said the department was among the earliest police forces in the country to operationalise a dedicated Data Center for the secure storage, processing and management of departmental data and policing software applications.
The Data Center hosts several key digital policing platforms,including CCTNS,ICJS,AFIS,Cyber Crime Information Systems,Smart e-Beat,KSP Mobile App and other citizen-centric services.
Police said the certification strengthens the department’s ability to ensure confidentiality,integrity and uninterrupted availability of sensitive information and critical digital infrastructure,while improving cyber resilience,disaster recovery preparedness and public trust in digital policing services.
According to the official release,the certification would significantly enhance information security and cyber resilience, strengthen protection against cyber threats and unauthorised access,improve the security and privacy of citizens’data,and ensure greater transparency and accountability in data management.
The certification would also help the department adopt internationally accepted security practices,improve disaster recovery and business continuity preparedness, and further enhance public trust and confidence in digital policing services.
The certification was achieved under the guidance of Dr. M.A.Saleem,Director General and Inspector General of Police,Karnataka,with support from the Police Computer Wing and the Data Center’s technical team,the release , added .
