Cab driver among four held by Chikkaballapur police for Rs.7.5 lakh robbery & recovered stolen property intact within 3 hours of crime

In a swift operation,police in Chikkaballapura arrested four persons,including a cab driver,within three hours of a robbery in which a businessman was allegedly attacked with chilli powder and robbed of Rs.7.5 lakh at knifepoint in Gauribidanur.

Senior officer told reporters that the incident occurred on May 11 in the Vinayakanagar area when businessman Shivashankara Aradhya stepped out of his residence carrying cash intended for starting a travel agency business.

It is said the victim had arranged nearly Rs.14 lakh by pledging and selling family jewellery to purchase vehicles for the proposed business venture.

As Aradhya was leaving his house with part of the money,two unidentified men on a motorcycle allegedly intercepted him,threw chilli powder into his eyes, threatened him with a machete and escaped with a bag containing Rs.7.5 lakh.

Following the complaint,a special investigation team was formed led by Superintedent of Police,Kushal Chowksey .

During the investigation,police detained Yashwanth,a cab driver known to the victim who had allegedly advised him to invest in the travel business.Police said Yashwanth confessed to masterminding the robbery along with his associates.

Based on the information provided during interrogation, police arrested three more accused—Darshan,Bharath and Vishakantamurthy from Bengaluru.

The police team recovered the entire stolen amount of Rs.7.5 lakh and seized a Maruti Suzuki Swift car, a TVS Apache motorcycle and the machete allegedly used in the crime he added.
