An officer of the Indian Air Force and his wife were allegedly assaulted by an auto driver and a group of men near Bagalagunte in Bengaluru following a road rage incident.
According to the complaint,the officer and his wife had gone shopping on the night of May 2 to purchase a microwave oven from a showroom on Tumakuru Road.
However,as the store was closing,they were reportedly asked to return the next day.
While returning,the couple allegedly got caught in a traffic jam near Jalahalli Cross.The officer reportedly requested an auto driver to make way for pedestrians, which led to an argument with a passenger travelling in the auto.
Senior officer said the auto driver allegedly abused and threatened the couple.When the officer and his wife attempted to leave the spot,one of the accused allegedly attacked them using a wooden stick.
Soon after,a group of around six to seven men allegedly gathered at the spot and assaulted the officer.During the attack,the officer’s wife was allegedly pushed to the ground.
The complaint further stated that when the officer tried to seek help,the accused fled the scene in the autorickshaw.
A case was registered on May 5 at Bagalagunte Police Station and further investigation is underway.
