In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, police from Yeshwanthpur Police Station and Nandini Layout Police Station have arrested six peddlers including two inter-state accused,for allegedly selling banned narcotic substances in the city.
Based on credible information received from informants, police learned that illegal drugs such as MDMA and hydro ganja were being sold in areas under Yeshwanthpur (two cases) and Nandini Layout (one case).
Acting swiftly,cases were registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,and coordinated raids were conducted at multiple locations.
During the operations,six accused were detained on different dates.Police said the group included two inter-state operatives and four local individuals.
During interrogation,all six confessed to procuring drugs at low prices from unknown suppliers and selling them to the public,including college students,for profit.
The Police team seized 8 kg 58 grams of MDMA and 5 kg 700 grams of hydro ganja from their possession, along with four mobile phones used for communication and a car used in the operation.
The total value of the seized items is estimated at ₹10.05 crore,while the market value is pegged at ₹20.10 crore.
All six accused have been produced before the court on different dates and remanded to judicial custody.
Police said efforts are underway to trace the inter-state and local suppliers involved in the network. Further investigation is in progress.
