Woman assaulted by neighbours over feeding stray dogs;case registered in Jnanabharathi Police station

A 51-year-old woman and her daughter in law was assaulted and abused by her neighbours who ransacked their house for objecting to feeding stray dogs.

The complainant,Lakshmi M,a resident of Jnanajyothi Nagar,stated that she has been living in a rented house with her family for the past three years.

She has two sons,one of whom lives separately in Laggere, while the younger son works in a private job.

According to the complaint,Lakshmi had been feeding stray dogs in the locality for the past 15 years.

Recently,a stray dog gave birth to puppies near her house, and she continued feeding them.

However,some neighbours objected,claiming that the dogs were causing inconvenience to passersby.

Following this,neighbours identified as Vasu and Nagaraj allegedly warned her against feeding the dogs.Lakshmi said she stopped feeding them for two days.

On April 16,a stray dog reportedly chased Nagaraj,and Lakshmi’s son intervened to rescue him.This led to a heated argument between Lakshmi’s family and the neighbours.

The situation escalated on April 18 around 7 pm,when Vasu,his son Dileep,and their associates allegedly trespassed into Lakshmi’s house.

The accused reportedly abused her in vulgar language, physically assaulted by the neghbours.

Lakshmi further alleged that her daughter-in-law was also assaulted and verbally abused.When she attempted to call the police,the accused allegedly snatched her mobile phone and threw it away.

The complainant also stated that the accused damaged household items and threatened her family.Later,when her son Raghavendra Prasad returned home and took them to a hospital,the accused allegedly attempted to attack him as well.

Based on the complaint,the Jnanabharathi Police have registered a case against Vasu,his son Dileep,their associates,and neighbour Nagaraj under relevant sections of the law. Further investigation is underway.
