NCB destroys drugs worth Rs.38 crore in Bengaluru disposal drive

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB),Bengaluru Zonal Unit,on Friday conducted a major drug disposal drive, destroying seized narcotics worth an estimated Rs.38 crore.

The exercise was carried out in accordance with Section 52A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,1985 and guidelines issued by the Supreme Court of India.

A total of 128.759 kg of contraband,including ganja, hydroponic ganja,cocaine,methamphetamine,MDMA, and THC,linked to 13 cases,was incinerated at a certified facility operated by Century Refineries.

Officials said the destruction was carried out in an environmentally compliant manner.

The disposal process was overseen by a Drug Disposal Committee headed by Sachin Ghorpade,IPS,Zonal Director,NCB Bengaluru.

Other members included Raja Imam Kasim P,DCP (Crime-2), Bengaluru City,and Aravind M R,Assistant Director,NCB.

Representatives from the State Pollution Control Board were also present to ensure adherence to environmental norms and transparency.

Officials noted that this was the second such drive in 2026.

In the first disposal conducted on February 5, approximately 1,607 kg of drugs worth Rs.11 crore were destroyed.

With the latest operation,the NCB Bengaluru Zonal Unit has disposed of a total of 1,735 kg of narcotics valued at Rs.49 crore so far this year.

The agency said the initiative is part of its ongoing efforts to prevent seized drugs from re-entering circulation and to curb drug trafficking.

The NCB has urged citizens to report information related to drug activities via its helpline 1933,assuring confidentiality and rewards for credible inputs.
