Four including juvenile HBT offenders arrested by Basaveshwaranagar police and recovered valuables worth Rs.17 Lakhs

The Basaveshwaranagar Police have arrested four persons,including a juvenile,for allegedly stealing valuables worth Rs.17 lakh from a house in BEML Layout while the resident was away.

The arrested have been identified as Nandish, Someshwara, Madhugowda, and Bhima, all aged in their early to mid-twenties.

Senior officer told reporters that,the theft occurred on March 31 when the complainant had stepped out for yoga practice.

Upon returning,she found the house lock broken and gold ornaments and cash missing.A case was subsequently registered and an investigation launched.

Acting on credible leads,police inspector Chikkaswamy and his team on April 3 apprehended two suspects near Dasarahalli,recovering Rs.8,100 in cash and an autorickshaw used in the crime.

On the same day,another accused and a juvenile were secured near Anmod village check post on the Ramanagara–Goa road,taking the total number of accused to four.

During interrogation,the accused allegedly confessed to the crime.The juvenile was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board,while the others were taken into police custody.

Further probe revealed that the accused were known to the victim and lived in the same locality.They had gained her trust by assisting with minor household tasks and used this familiarity to identify where valuables were stored.

Police said part of the stolen gold was recovered from the accused’s residence,while some had been sold to known persons and at jewellery shops in Yadiyur and KP Agrahara.

Based on information provided by the accused,officers recovered 115 grams of gold ornaments, Rs.13,400 in cash,and the autorickshaw used in the offence.

They were produced before a court on April 9 and remanded to judicial custody.Further investigation is ongoing.
