A neighbourhood dispute over the“custody”of four kittens took an unusual turn in Seshadripuram, prompting intervention by the Bengaluru City Police, who ultimately brokered a peaceful settlement between two families.

The incident, reported under the limits of Seshadripuram Police Station, began after a resident’s male pet cat allegedly mated with a neighbour’s female cat, which later gave birth to four kittens.

Tensions escalated when the female cat’s owners carried the kittens to their neighbour’s house and demanded that the latter assume responsibility for raising them, claiming their pet was the“father.”

The demand triggered a heated argument between the two sides.

With the situation threatening to spiral out of control, police were alerted.Hoysala patrol personnel arrived at the scene and intervened to defuse tensions.

After hearing both parties, the officers devised a practical solution to end the dispute.

The kittens were handed over to a neutral third party, ensuring that neither family was burdened with their care and restoring calm in the locality.

Police officials said the timely intervention prevented the dispute from escalating further and underscored the wide range of situations handled by field personnel in maintaining public order.
