A 10-year-old boy drowned in a lake in Chikkabanavara in Soladevanahalli police station limits on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Sheikh Sha Wali, son of a migrant labourer couple from Kalaburagi.Wali was a Class 5 student at a government school.
According to the police,Wali had ventured into the lake to swim but accidentally drowned.Passers-by who noticed the body alerted the authorities.
Police personnel rushed to the spot,recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination.
A case of unnatural death has been registered, and further investigation is underway.Authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death.
