GBA Officials Caught in Rs.3 Lakh Bribery Trap by Lokayukta Police

The Karnataka Lokayukta police in Bengaluru city on Thursday successfully laid a trap and arrested two officials of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹3 lakh.

The case has been registered under Sections 7(a) and 7(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The complainant,Nyamathulla Khan,a resident of Heggadenagar,had approached the Lokayukta alleging that his khata-related work was pending with the BBMP officials.

The accused government officials (AGOs) have been identified as Venkatesh,Revenue Inspector at Geddalahalli in Thanisandra ward,and Srinivas,Tax Inspector of the same ward.

According to officials,the accused had demanded a bribe of ₹3 lakh to clear the pending khata work related to the complainant’s building.

During the trap,Srinivas was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant.

Both accused have been secured and taken into custody.

The operation was supervised by DSP Poovaiah K C, while the trap was led by Police Inspector Maruthi G Nayaka and his team from Lokayukta Bengaluru City-2.

The entire operation was carried out under the supervision of Superintendent of Police,K Vamsikrishna, IPS.Further investigation is underway.
