The Adugodi Police Station have arrested two persons for allegedly supplying heroin in the city,including a man who claimed to be a Bhajan keertan singer from Uttar Pradesh.
The arrested accused have been identified as Baljit Singh and Arjun Joshi,a native of Nepal.
Senior officer told reporters that Arjun Joshi,was working as a delivery agent and had allegedly taken to drug peddling.
During investigation it was found that Arjun initially consumed drugs and later began selling heroin.
He allegedly sourced the contraband from Baljit Singh who sourced the drugs from Punjab and sold it to customers in the city.
Baljit Singh,who hails from Uttar Pradesh,reportedly came to Bengaluru to supply heroin when he was caught by Adugodi police.
During interrogation,he claimed to be part of Ragi jatha in his hometown and was allegedly involved in drug peddling as a part-time activity.
Police have seized 162 grams of heroin worth ₹55 lakh and three mobile phones from the accused.
A case has been registered at Adugodi Police Station, and further investigation is underway to trace the wider network involved in the supply chain, officer said.
