Karnataka Home Minister Dr.G.Parameshwara on Monday announced that the alleged abuse case involving a police inspector in Moodbidri will be investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, the minister said he has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to hand over the probe to the CID following serious allegations of misconduct against the inspector, particularly involving women.

He noted that Nagalakshmi Chowdhary,Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, had visited the victims and shared key details about the incident.

Based on these inputs and the gravity of the allegations, the decision was taken to initiate a detailed CID investigation.

“The inspector has already been suspended as an immediate measure.A report has been sought, and further action will be based on the findings of the CID probe,”Parameshwara said.

He added that a comprehensive investigation is necessary to ascertain the full extent of the case, including identifying if there are more victims.“The truth will emerge after a thorough probe,”he stated.

Responding to a question on remarks by Pranavananda Swamiji, the minister said that the All India Congress Committee (AICC) follows its own mandate and bases decisions on internal reports rather than public statements.
