Gutkha Smuggler arrested for dragging head constable on bonnet over three kilometres 390kg Tobacco seized

In a chilling incident near the Tamilnadu–Karnataka border,a Head Constable was dragged on the bonnet of a speeding luxury car for over three kilometers after attempting to intercept a vehicle smuggling banned substances.

The incident occurred at the Jujuvadi police checkpost, where a police team was conducting routine inspections.

When flagged down,the driver of the car accelerated instead of stopping, striking Head Constable Rajiv Gandhi and forcing him onto the bonnet.

Shockingly,the driver continued at high speed along the National Highway,with the officer clinging precariously to the vehicle, leaving motorists and onlookers horrified.

Upon receiving an emergency alert,a team led by Hosur SIPCOT Police Inspector Syed Mubarak launched a pursuit.

With public assistance, the police cornered the vehicle near the Hosur Dargah area.In a desperate bid to escape,the suspect attempted to ram the officers again.

During this confrontation,Head Constable Rajiv Gandhi sustained a fracture.

The driver, identified as Yarab Pasha (34) of Kalegunda, Hosur,was apprehended.A search of the car revealed,390 kg of banned Gutka and 48 packets of Karnataka-origin liquor said a senior officer.

The accused remains in custody as police continue their investigation into the smuggling network.
