A complaint has been lodged with the Bidadi police alleging that four persons attempted to bribe Congress MLAs from Odisha and threatened them when they refused the offer.
Ashok Kumar Das,Deputy Leader of the Congress Legislative Party in Odisha,filed the complaint stating that the Rajya Sabha elections from Odisha are scheduled to be held on March 16.
He alleged that since the ruling BJP government in the state has fielded an additional candidate,there were apprehensions of attempts being made to influence or poach Congress legislators.
According to the complaint,eight Congress MLAs from Odisha have been staying in Bengaluru since March 12 for safety reasons.
Das alleged that on March 15,four persons approached some of the MLAs and offered crores of rupees each in an attempt to induce them to cross-vote in favour of a candidate in the Rajya Sabha election.However, the MLAs reportedly rejected the offer.
Following this,the accused allegedly threatened to kill the MLAs if they returned to Odisha and also abused them using filthy language.
The persons named in the complaint are Birendra Prasad,Suresh,Ajit Kumar Sahu and Simachal Mohakud.
Police said they have received the complaint and are examining the allegations.Further investigation is underway.
