A special Women’s Monthly Parade was organised at the CAR Central Parade Ground in Bengaluru on Friday to mark International Women’s Day,with women police personnel taking centre stage.
During the parade,the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City,Seemant Kumar Singh received the Guard of Honour.
The event was attended by senior officers including the Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime),Joint Commissioners of Police for Administration,East,West and Traffic,Deputy Commissioners of Police from all divisions of Bengaluru,along with other police personnel and media representatives.
The parade was commanded by Mohammed Sujitha M.S,Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East Division),while Reena Suvarna,ACP of Whitefield Sub-Division,served as the Assistant Parade Commander.
All contingents participating in the parade consisted exclusively of women officers and personnel.
On the occasion,the Commissioner of Police presented Commendation Certificates to 60 women officers and staff members for their distinguished service.
The awardees included two women ACPs,three Police Inspectors,six Women Sub-Inspectors,three Women Assistant Sub-Inspectors,15 Women Head Constables, 16 Women Constables,12 ministerial staff members, two Women Home Guards and one sanitation staff member.
Following the parade,the Rani Chennamma Squad presented a karate demonstration,showcasing self-defence skills.
The team performed feats such as breaking tiles with their fists and smashing earthen pots placed about eight feet high using kicks,drawing applause from the audience.
As part of the Parihar initiative,100 auto-rickshaws provided to women drivers were also displayed at the parade ground.
The women auto drivers participated in the event wearing uniforms,which became a special highlight of the programme.
