A 52-year-old mechanic’s death, initially suspected to be natural, has turned into a murder case after Viveknagar Police Station uncovered evidence of assault linked to a dispute over vacating a rented house.

The deceased,Inayath Pasha (52),was living alone on the ground floor of a building in Austin Town.

A native of the area and a two-wheeler mechanic by profession,he had been partially disabled in his left leg since birth due to a polio attack.

On March 1,around 6.45 pm,his son Syed Mohammed Ali visited the house and found his father lying motionless on a cot.

Earlier in the afternoon, at about 4.45 pm,Pasha’s sister and her son had reportedly gone to serve him food and noticed him lying inside the house. When they tried to wake him,he did not respond.

Based on the initial complaint, police registered an Unnatural Death Report under Section 194(3)(iv) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and began inquiry proceedings.

However, during the course of investigation, suspicions arose regarding the circumstances of the death.

Following a detailed inquiry and a fresh complaint by a relative, police converted the case into a murder investigation.

The accused, identified as Masoor Ahmed (22),son of the house owner, was taken in for questioning.

During interrogation,he allegedly confessed that he had repeatedly asked Pasha to vacate the rented house. On March 1,at around 4.30 pm,he again went to the tenant’s house and asked him to vacate.

An argument ensued after Pasha allegedly refused and abused him.

Police said that during the altercation,Ahmed punched Pasha on the face, eyes, chest and ribs with his hands, resulting in his death on the spot.

He then allegedly attempted to portray the incident as a natural death.

Investigators said the murder was committed following a quarrel over vacating the house and that the accused tried to mislead authorities by projecting it as a case of sudden death. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
