Three More Arrested for Abetment in Student Gang Rape Case

Continuing their investigation into the alleged gang rape of a college student, the Amruthahalli Police Station have arrested three more persons for allegedly abetting the crime.

During the investigation,police examined six to seven witnesses and recorded their statements.On the basis of the complainant’s statement and supporting evidence, two main accused were arrested earlier.

The arrested accused have been identified as Dikshan Santhra,21,a resident of West Bengal,and Nikhil, 34,a resident of Sakaleshpur in Hassan district.

They were produced before the jurisdictional court and remanded to police custody for further interrogation.

Police have now detained three others for allegedly assisting the accused in the commission of the offence.

They are Shravan,21,from Shivamogga;Aniruddh,33,from Davanagere district;and Mohith Jain, 23,a native of Gujarat.

Senior officer said that ,the trio is suspected of having facilitated the crime and provided support to the prime accused before and after the incident.They have been taken into custody and are being questioned to ascertain their exact role.Further investigation is in progress.
