Acting on credible information about the alleged use of mobile phones and possession of prohibited items by inmates, the Central Crime Branch conducted a surprise raid at the Central Prison Parappana Agrahara in the early hours of Saturday .
The raid,carried out at around 6 am,targeted multiple barracks,including those housing under trials, convicted inmates,VIP inmates,and women under trials prisoners.
During the operation,officials seized sharp-edged metal objects, tobacco-like substances, silver-coloured bangles and chains,mobile chargers,a mobile battery, and cash amounting to ₹9,340.
The items were recovered from various barracks inside the prison premises.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime-1,and involved four Assistant Commissioners of Police,13 Police Inspectors,and over 100 police personnel.
Further action is being initiated as per prison and criminal laws.
