A major accident was narrowly averted in the early hours of Friday when a private bus travelling from Bengaluru to Kalaburagi caught fire near Hanumanthapura Gate in Nelamangala taluk of Bengaluru Rural district.
Senior officer told reporters that,the incident occurred around 1.30 am when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle,causing it to veer off the road and tilt into a roadside drain.
While in the tilted position,the bus reportedly came into contact with an overhead electric line,triggering a massive fire.
All 30 passengers on board managed to escape unhurt before the flames engulfed the bus.Despite the prompt response of the Nelamangala fire and emergency services,the vehicle was completely gutted within minutes.
The bus, operated by Sanjana Tourist,was reduced to ashes.Passengers lost their luggage and other personal belongings in the blaze.
A case has been registered at the Nelamangala Rural Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
