Congress leader Rajeev Gowda sent to 14 days in judicial custody after arrest from Kerala

A local court in Sidlaghatta on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of Rajeev Gowda and remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with a case involving threats allegedly issued to Sidlaghatta municipal commissionerr.

The court took a serious view of the allegations, observing that the offence was grave in nature.After hearing arguments,the judge dismissed the bail application and ordered judicial remand.

Police had sought five days of custodial interrogation, citing the need for further investigation.However,the court declined the request and instead sent the accused to judicial custody.

Rajeev Gowda was produced before the Shidlaghatta court following his arrest in the case.Further legal proceedings are awaited.

Meanwhile the court granted bail to Accused No.2, Michael Jospeh,in connection with the Rajeev Gowda case.

Michael, who was named as the second accused in the case and arrested for harbouring the fugitive Rajeev Gowda at a farm house in Mangaluru,was produced before the court,following which the judge allowed his bail application after hearing arguments from both sides.

The court issued an order granting bail to the accused, subject to conditions.Further proceedings in the case are pending.
